What if I mix big fountain pens with …?

People who know me would never call me silly. Not in the effervescent, cracking jokes, playing like a child way. I’m too serious, too literal, or “have no sense of humor”. (that last one’s totally not true.) Art is where I play.
How can I mix the 'genres’ of my interests in fun ways? Well I like animals… and I like pottery….and I like fountain pens… Well, since a lot of fountain pens are best stored horizontally when inked. What if I make a ceramic animal that can sit on my desk and hold my pen? Oh, what if I add some whimsy and make an animal with an oversized, out of proportion mouth that holds the pen?
Welcome to the Desk Mates series where I explore making fun ceramic animals that help you out by holding your favorite writing instrument. Though I suppose you could get creative and give them your chopsticks, your glasses, whatever.
